The steps we follow to build your website

Below are the steps and procedures we follow to ensure the quality of your website. The steps may vary from website too website depending on the nature and size of the project.

1. Analysis:
Initially you will make contact with us to discuss your requirements. We will listen to your needs, ask questions and find out as much as we. The more information and the more specific you are the better. Issues such as hardware, software, timescale and budget will also be considered at this stage. The size of the project will dictate the amount of time spent on analysis. Obviously a £500 website will differ from a £10,000 one.

Input: Telephone conversations, interviews with the client, emails/mail and supporting documents by the client, discussions notes, telephone conversations, example websites etc.
OutPut: Work plan, cost involved, team requirements, hardware and software requirements, Supporting documents

2. Specification Building:
After reviewing the analysis report, a written proposal is prepared outlining the scope of the project including responsibilities, timelines and costs. Specifications will include the general layout, site navigation, components to be used, content management, hardware, software, hosting etc. We will present you with our proposal which you can look over and suggest any modifications if necessary.

Input: Analysis Report
Output: Proposal

3. Design and development:
Work on the web site is scheduled upon receipt of the signed proposal, a deposit, and any written content materials and graphics you wish to include. At this stage normally the layouts and navigation will be designed as a prototype. Some customers may be interested only in a fully functional prototype, but in most of the cases the customer may be interested in viewing two or three designs with all images and navigation. We are open to a lot of suggestions and changes from the customer side, and all the changes will have to be completed and verified before moving unto the next phase. We can show you the revisions via the web rather than more meetings, though that will be your choice. As needed, customer comments, feedback and approvals can be communicated by e-mail, fax and telephone.

Input: Design specifications
Output: Designed template

4. Content writing:
We will design and develop the site. As for the content it is best that you provide us with the text. You know more about your site than we do. Nevertheless will write the content should you request us to do so. The grammatical and spelling check should be completed in this phase.

Input: Designed template
Output: Site with content

5. Coding:
At this stage with a template in place our developer will now get to work. He will know the interface and his code should not disturb the look and feel of the site or application. Our developer may need to interact with our designer, in order to understand the design. Our developer will generate necessary testing plans as well as technical documentations. The end-user documentation can also be prepared at this stage.

Input: The site with functionality and coding requirements
Output: Fully functional website

6. Testing:
All websites need intensive testing including cross-browser compatibility, resolution testing, link testing etc. We will carryout live testing to make sure the site functions correctly.

Input: The site, requirement specifications
Output: Completed website, testing reports, error logs

7. Promotion:
We will submit your website to the major search engines and directories. Site promotion is normally an ongoing process as the strategies of search engine may change quite often. If the customer is willing, then an ongoing search engine and directory strategy can be supplied with additional cost.

Input: Completed site with content
Output: Site submission and promotion

8. Maintenance:
Once your website is operational we will provide ongoing maintenance. Staff training, content management and other post build services can be provided.

Input: Functional website
Output: Maintenance and training if needed

The above-mentioned steps alone are not set in stone. Some steps may not applicable for a particular website. It depends on the cost and time involved and the necessity. Following the guidelines and steps above ensures the quality of the finished product.
